Dr. MacIlvaine - Sex Therapist and Psychologist in San Diego

Hi. I'm Mary Lou MacIlvaine, Ph.D.
(619) 501-0334

I'm someone you can trust. I have a good heart and a helping hand. I love meeting people and getting to know them, working together to relieve problems and find more pleasure. I respect the importance and privacy of what people tell me.

So,then, let me tell you about my credentials. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (CA 14409) specializing in mind-body health. I got my BA from UC Berkeley, with Phi Beta Kappa honors. I'm a member of Mensa. My doctoral work was at California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno, now Alliant University. I got my Ph.D. in 1992 and established my own private practice in 1996, with a focus on the mind body connection.

My education goes on and on. I have completed a four-year post-doctoral program in Gestalt Therapy and a six-year post-doctoral program in Integrated Body Psychotherapy, ending by becoming a Certified Teacher of Integrated Body Psychotherapy ("IBP"), a therapeutic approach similar to Orgone Therapy. Jack Rosenberg had a lot of praise for me. I have also extensively studied the Crucible Approach with David S. Schnarch, who is widely considered the leading international expert on sex therapy. I've completed all the educational courses he offers and had many hours of private consultations with him. During 2005, I completed a full-year course in Anatomy and Physiology at Grossmont College.

Several times a year , I participate in a seminar series in Philadelphia sponsored by the Institute of Orgonomic Science (IOS), of which I am a member. These seminars focus on life energy, health, and efforts to extend the research in orgonomy. I have my own private practice and work holistically, approaching psychological and general health issues from a mind-body perspective.

Other good links are The American College of Orgonomy, The Wilhelm Reich Museum, which is a good source for books, and Orgonics.com, a source for accumulators.

I am an active member of the California Psychological Association (CPA) and the San Diego Psychological Association (SDPA). I am honored to be listed in the National Register of Psychologists. My private practice is located in Kensington, central to San Diego. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, photography, pottery, choral singing, and getting together with friends. I love art, such as combining words and photographs, as you see on these pages.
